This is an antique sewing table. An English, lacquered and handpainted work table in Japanned taste, dating to the Victorian period, circa 1880.
Charming hand painted work table, with an appealing foliate decor
Displays a desirable aged patina and in good, lightly time worn manner
Lacquered frame with a sarcophagus top over distinctive legs
Decorated with bouquets of flowers across every surface in golden hues
Top opens to reveal the clear, bright mirror plate, displaying light foxing commensurate with age
Inset compartment tray can be removed to extend the internal storage area
Concealed drawer to the fascia, the trailing edge adorned with a shaped bracket apron
Raised upon a quartet of fascinating shaped legs, terminating in scrolled toes
