A large and vivid mid century modernist townscape composition in oil, painted onto canvas.

In this port scene, the artist has reduced the buildings and structures down into planes of non naturalistic colour, creating segmented areas of contrasting colour that form this vivid scene. In the distance, the sea is visible, with a monument in turquoise punctuating the composition. The brushstrokes are largely horizontal, except for the trees (painted in brown), as well as the sky. There is a palpable energy and movement to the piece, and a lovely rhythmic effect flowing through the painting.
