This fabulous angular column features a series of perfectly matched cove moldings embellished with brilliantly chiseled and chased bas-relief anthemion and foliage, these framing each transition from one level to the next within the pedestal. The top panel features a single arrow wrapped in wreathes, the centermost wreath showcasing an olive branch twisted in a full circle. The baluster is mounted with a beautifully decorated and cast torch. All castings are marked on the reverse ACX. The footer rests over a thick polished brass plate.
A very powerful and regal column.
Note: as of this writing, Cedric Dupont Antiques features an identical pair of these columns in the same verde marble with slightly different mounts (available at the time of this writing for $ 39,500), suggesting these would likely have been made and retailed in pairs. Galerie Atena in France has at the time of this writing what appears to be a single perfect opposing pair to this column with the arrow facing the opposing direction (available for around $ 6600 USD at the time of this writing).

Condition Report:
