Set of 4 Thonet 'Long John' Highback Bentwood Dining Chairs These early to mid 20th century Thonet nr. 17 'Long John' highback bentwood dining chairs have a timeless elegance. Designed around 1865, they show the timeless appeal of bentwood craftsmanship and webbing Thonet is known for. A great blend of form and function. Each chair features a high, gracefully curved backrest that provides a striking and unusual silhouette. The bentwood technique used in the construction creates seamless curves and fluid organic shapes. The chairs are sturdy yet lightweight, a hallmark of Thonet's innovative bentwood process, which involves steaming and bending solid wood into elegant, durable shapes. The slender, elongated back adds a touch of sophistication, making these chairs suitable for both contemporary and classic dining settings.
