The cabinet, dated 1712, is made of walnut and other fine woods. This model cabinet shows elaborate inlay work with a geometric star motif on the door fronts. The front bears the year “1712” and the initials “S M” on the upper panel, indicating a personal dedication or signature.
The doors open to reveal an interior with three glass shelves. The interior lining is made of a pink fabric with floral patterns, which gives the cabinet an elegant appearance. The hinges and the lock are artfully designed, with the lock particularly striking due to its fine, ornamental decoration in the baroque style. The accompanying key is also period and fits perfectly with the detailed craftsmanship of the entire cabinet.
The piece of furniture is not only an exceptional example of Baroque craftsmanship, but also a functional piece, ideal for displaying or storing collectibles. The model cabinet was probably used as a small home bar, hence the glass shelves. less
