Beautiful set of 3 nesting tables, or a coffee table with 2 side tables from the Bethcraft brand. The quality of the material and the craftsmanship of the maker radiates throughout this beautiful set. All three tables are of good quality, heavy for their type and equipped with a beautiful top, including very nice rounded corners and a beautiful wood grain. The teak wood has been restored to a beautiful condition and the tops have no scratches or circles, they are also provided with a coating that will protect them against moisture and dirt. The special thing is that this set consists of a larger (coffee) table with 2 tables underneath, in addition to a set of nesting tables, this is actually also a coffee table with two side tables.
Very exclusive and decorative set for real gourmets! About the manufacturer and designers. Until the early 1960s, Beithcraft produced very traditional furniture, including Queen Anne style furniture in walnut. When designer Frank Guille started designing for Beithcraft, they set out to produce "modern furniture" for which they are still so appreciated today. Guille also designed for the companies Kandya and Austinsuite. He had studied under top designers Robin Day and Kaare Klint, bringing modern British and Danish influences. Designer Val Rossi designed for manufacturer A.H. in the early 1960s. McIntosh from Kirkcaldy led by Tom Robertson. Around 1963/64, Rossi appears to have taken over from Guille at Beithcraft and it was Val Rossi who designed most of the striking Beithcraft sideboards and furniture that are so sought after worldwide today. Beithcraft was acquired by competitor McIntosh in the 1970s while Rossi was still working for them.
Towards the end of the 1970s, tastes changed again and, astonishingly, demand for Rossi's sublime designs began to wane. This coffee table is dated on the bottom and comes from this late period in the 1970s, and is a beautiful example of a timeless design. By the turn of the century, the furniture was once again noticed by early adopters of vintage furniture and highly valued for its design and finish. Beitcraft furniture is now highly sought after among enthusiasts and collectors worldwide.
