Binding/description: Finely rebound circa 1910, 3/4 red leather over marble paper boards, gilt decorated spine with 3 raised bands, matching marble endpapers, upper gilt leaf edge, color frontispiece opposite title page, text profusely illustrated with full page black/white plates. As ex-library books, each marked at spine heel with a label, no other stamps or marks internally.

Author Note: Professor Pompeo Molmenti, Academy of Fine Arts Venice, was considered the leading historical writer in Italy during his time, certainly recognized authority on everything Venetian. The present two volumes consider only the Golden Age of Venice. They have the advantage of translation by Mr. Horatio Brown, the British archivist in Venice.
