The silver hallmark anchor is a symbol of quality and reliability, and it is still used today to indicate the purity of silver items. It is a symbol of trust and assurance that the item is made of high-quality silver. The silver hallmark anchor is a timeless symbol that has been used for centuries, and it is sure to remain a symbol of quality for many years to come.
The shears feature a delicate vine pattern and are perfect for snipping grapes or other small tasks. Measuring at 6.5 inches, these shears are a great size for everyday use or display. The late 19th century style adds a touch of elegance to any setting. This item is perfect for those interested in other antique silver pieces or for those who appreciate the beauty of vintage items.
Excellent condition, they are beautifully polished. There is an Anchor Mark which is a hallmark introduced in the 18th century in Birmingham, England. This mark features an anchor, a symbol of the Birmingham Assay Office, and was used to signify that the office had assayed and approved the silver. There is a steel blade affixed to one side, which is removable for sharpening via two small screws.
Measure 6 1/2" long
These Ornate grape clusters and leaves on the handles with a hallmark on the blade originally belonged to my late grandmother but have been in my soon to be 102 yr. old Mom's home for decades and decades.
Very heavy and substantial piece.
Kept in a No smoking home and lovingly cared for and rarely used. less
