Rare and exceptional 18th century French Régence overmantel giltwood mirror, France circa 1740/50. Handcarved wooden frame, gessoed and gilded in 24ct gold leaves, crest parcels painted in green milk paint, original 18th century mirror. Mildly cleaned and retouched to match overall patina. Wear and tear consistent to age, small cracks and some gilt chipps. Please note that the mirror is very delicate and some accidents may occur during shipping.
Regence was an important style in French art history and is consider to last from 1715-1723 while Louis the 15th was still minor. less
