Design Plus Gallery presents a Set of Four Model 811 Caned Dining Side Chairs designed by Michael Thonet for Ton. In the mid-1800s, Thonet led a revolution in furniture making, inventing a method for bending wood to create strong but lightweight seating. Crafted by TON in the original Thonet factory, this chair is true to the famous Chair 811, designed by Josef Hoffman for Thonet in 1930. The combination of black solid beech wood frame with a woven natural cane seat and back that feels spacious and supportive, all four have arms. Scaled for smaller spaces. Light wear; small break in cane on one chair seat (shown in closeup). Made in Czech Republic.
