Like all period beds it was not of a … more This hand-carved and turned mahogany bed was probably made in Maryland. Like all period beds it was not of a standard size, but we have adapted to modern queen-size. We have retained all original parts, but have extended the rails and headboard. We have added a removable platform (stained to match) to hold the mattress. The extensions of the rails are stained to match on the outside, but left unstained on the inside to show the alteration. This bed has a magnificent presence. The mattress is higher than a modern bed -- a set of bed steps comes with the bed at no additional cost. For moving, the bed comes into 23 pieces. less
