This bust gives the illusion of being made from marble, but it is actually made from parian, a biscuit porcelain. … more This bust gives the illusion of being made from marble, but it is actually made from parian, a biscuit porcelain. It dates to the late 19th Century and shows some signs of its age in the form of dust that has settled into the crevices. I used a toothbrush and water to clean parts of it, but some of the discoloration seems to be there to stay. There is a hairline crack and a small hole in the back of the hat (refer to picture 11). That part of the hat is actually hollow on the inside, so the crack isn't visible from the front of the bust.

This is an imposing piece, measuring 29.25" high and 21" wide. The base measures 8" x 9". It is also a fairly heavy piece. less
