Willis created a heavy-in-contrast piece, with a soft and smooth stormy sky, and a borderline greyscale streetscape below through a well crafted cold shaded color palette.. The closer to the bottom of the painting you get, the more the strokes and color variety, and with it- movement and intensity. The split between a soft quiet sky and an aggressive and beautiful world underneath it make this piece especially captivating. Thankfully, due to the artist's painting technique, the condition of this art is superb. The sky is painted with either a thinned or dry hard brushed layer of oil paint, and below the cityscape has been carefully layered. You can tell by the specific color blending, and bold contrasts, that this artist was patient and careful in his layer work. There is also obvious intention in the more intense marks and scrapes in the piece. Overall beautifully orchestrated. less
