Verdant is a limited edition collection of ceramic lamps created by cult lighting designers Dumais Made and interior designer and art advisor Elena Frampton exclusively for Exhibition The Barn in Bridgehampton. The silhouettes of the lamps are inspired by classical column structures and the whimsy of childhood. Each lamp includes a pedestal, base, and column, but as with wooden building blocks, the components have been playfully stacked to create unexpected forms.
The bold finishing technique and fresh suite of verdant green glazes, exclusive to this collection, were handpicked and art directed by Elena Frampton. Layering chartreuse with bottle green, the glazing is left deliberately unfinished to reveal the natural white of the stoneware clay. Thoughtful details, elegant in their simplicity, complete the design. Antique brass fittings, twisted green-cloth cords, and off-white string shades recall the bucolic natural surroundings. Verdant comprises six lamp types, each available in an edition of only three. Made by hand at Dumais Made's studio in Litchfield, CT, each one-of-a-kind lamp has its own unique character, which shifts with the painterly quality of the finishing.
Sale includes the original oversized off-white string lamp shades. Dumais Made lamps are exceptionally rare in the secondary market. This pair was originally purchased in 2022 for $17,200.
