Mario Bellini, an acclaimed architect and designer, has won 8 Compasso D’Oro awards and has 25 of his designs in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. He has collaborated with influential Italian furniture companies and was the editor of Domus magazine from 1985 to 1991. Bellini’s architectural projects include the Islamic Art Center at the Louvre, the Tokyo Design Center, and the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne. His successful furniture designs, including the Bambole collection, were often in collaboration with Cassina and B&B Italia. The Bambole collection’s success was partly due to its provocative marketing campaign by photographer Oliviero Toscani, featuring model Donna Jordan in bold poses. This campaign generated significant buzz and contributed to the collection’s enduring popularity. less
