With its dainty size, beautifully figured cherry, uniquely shaped top, and crocodile handles, it clearly stands out from the crowd!

Built in the Neoclassical style of the early 1800s with the string inlay on the drawer faces and top edge, there are several clues that show us where this chest was made. First, the cherry primary and white pine secondary woods points to New England. Second, both back feet are made out of one single board, spanning the back, which was mainly done in the Connecticut River Valley. Finally, the curiously shaped top, small size, and beading on the drawer blades all point to a Massachusetts origin.

We love all the small details of this chest! How can you not love the crocodile motif on the handles?? While they are reproductions, they are a correct representation of the Egyptian influence on the Neoclassical style. The curved shape of the top is such a unique design and adds to the graceful feel of the chest. The string inlay and beaded edges on the drawer blades show the care the craftsperson took in designing such a wonderful chest of drawers.
