Takatori ware is traditionally characterised by earthy tones decorated with natural glazes. These guinomi showcases a unique blue tonal gradation which pools in the centre. The use of multiple natural glazes retains the capacity for originality, culminating in this original glaze style here known as Tenmitsu (Celestial Honey). Inspired by Tenmoku bowls and the convention of "janome" or "snake's eye" at the bottom of sake cups, the unpredictable blue flushes of glaze, transformed by flame create a beautiful intrigue to enhance one's drinking experience.
These guinomi have a wonderful soba-choko profile, which are a delight to hold. Close inspection reveals a multitude of intrigue resulting from the glaze transformations. A finely carved double foot adds to the elegance of this pair.
