19th Century French Gilt Bronze and Hand-Painted Enamel Porcelain Inkwell Signed
This exquisite inkwell features a charming and unfussy design, countering the intricate ormolu decoration around the base, underside, and top. With a striking blue lapis ground, the porcelain body is adorned with delicate floral patterns in golds, oranges, and greens. The gilded bronze top includes a hinged inkpot lid and a raised opening for a quill pen, all set on a bronze foot.
It is signed on the bottom with an unfamiliar mark and is marked “Made in France.”
Dimensions are 4 1/2" in diameter and 4" in height.
