Originally designed for the famous stimmehat house, this example was produced by knoll in the 1970s. Because it was made before the 1950s, it does not bear a signature, which is typical of early pieces - the practice of marking only began through collaboration with knoll international in the 1950s.

ludwig mies van der rohe is considered a key figure in modern architecture and design. His famous principle “less is more” is clearly evident in this minimalist table. The mr coffee table was one of the first designs made of tubular steel and is now a sought-after collector's item. Four of these tables were integrated into the interior of the stimmehat house, one of mies' most important works and a milestone in modern architecture.
