Finding a pair of matching highboy chests, it rarely seen, let alone this style of brutalist tallboy armoires by Young Manufacturing Company. Vintage mid century furniture made of walnut solid wood and veneers. The undeniable design style of brutalist lines, these chests are most likely from the 1960s. Created in a contained geometric parquet pattern in the woodworking details, with perfect cubes in alignment, in alternating dimensional depth. Rectified edges squared panels forming a geo repeat pattern in the doors. Accented cut outs in the two stacked deep drawers on the lower base. Each unit consisting of an upper, over a base, the pair has the same interior configurations, where as the inside pull out tray-drawers are beneath a set of 6 cubby style storage cubes, 3 longs on left and 3 stout on right, behind the elaborate doors. Original owners, in good preowned condition, hence some imperfections that may need to be addressed if desired. Recommended restoration to improve the overall condition. There is wear on the edges and some scratches, where one of the two units is in better condition. May need new mag locks. A few scuffs, wear and scratches that may need some attention. Some minimal paint overspray on the base topside edges. In solid sound construction, heavier weighted pieces from that decade. Excellent workmanship and style attributed to Paul Evans era of design.
Works well with Modern, Organic Modern, Minimalist design styles of similar decorating concepts. Great storage options for the bedroom, hallway, dressing room.
