Quite possibly my favorite Kaj Franck Finel Arabia design, this iconic black & white mushroom mid century enamel bowl in … more Quite possibly my favorite Kaj Franck Finel Arabia design, this iconic black & white mushroom mid century enamel bowl in a large, deep size for storage, decor and function, is the perfect enamelware piece for the modern foodie kitchen. Known as the Tatti Mushroom bowl (tatti is what the Finnish call the porcini mushroom), it was first produced in the 1950s and continued into the 1960s. The illustration was designed by Esteri Tomula; the bowl design by Kaj Franck.

Mushrooms of all types, shapes and sizes run around the top rim of the bowl giving it a whimsical, playful and modern look. There's minimal chipping to the edge, surprisingly little compared to others I've seen. It's clear this has been used as a mixing bowl over the years, as you can see the interior has marks from stirring. Fill it with fruit and no one will know, or whip up a batch of something without fear of damage! Marked on the base Finel Made in Finland; Finel is a combination is Finland and enamel.
