This rare and beautiful chest, crafted in a rustic Tuscan style, is made of walnut wood. The design is clean and elegant, with a parallelepiped structure composed of perfectly joined planks. The top features a lid, attached at the back with old, charming hinges. The chest is supported by four sturdy corner feet, providing solid stability. Although the original lock is missing, it can be easily restored thanks to the existing housing and keyhole. Rustic Tuscan furniture originates from a region in Italy deeply connected to nature and the countryside, reflecting this profound bond. The key characteristic of this style is its simplicity and focus on essential elements. This piece was handcrafted between 1910 and 1920 in one of the many workshops in the Casentino area of Tuscany. It is worth noting that the Casentino region has been a center for the production of rural items since ancient times, including farm wagons, barrels, and, above all, everyday furniture. Additionally, the history of the Casentino Valley and its forests is inextricably linked to the magnificent Florence Cathedral; wood from these forests was used for the scaffolding and construction of Brunelleschi's Dome. Rather than restoring the chest in the traditional manner, the previous owner chose to transform this antique piece into a unique and original item. Recently, it was adorned with lively and appealing decorations in a Florentine restoration workshop. We decided against further restoration, as the original patina and minor imperfections add to its charm and attest to its age and authenticity. With its decorative elements, the chest can be placed in any setting.
The chest is in good condition. Measurements: width 107 cm, depth 50 cm, height 60 cm. For all our shipments, we use special packaging materials (wooden crates, styrofoam, etc.) to ensure maximum protection and safety of the items. less
