Purchase in Tokyo in 1980s, this small wood and metal tansu (chest) was probably built in late 1800s according to the hardware used and construction methods. It is 8 inches long and 4 1/2 inches wide with a height of 5 inches. It has a clip lock on top with two draws inside the cover. There is also a pull out draw on the side of the tansu.
Great for display and for storage of small items either in the top or the side drawer.
Exceptional piece with all parts original and all metal parts intact.
