The fine art lithograph print poster is published by The Jacques Damase Dalerie De Varenne Paris, printed in 1973 in an unnumbered limited edition by Arts Litho Paris on the occasion of the " Tapisseries Inedites ( New Tapestries ) exhibition. It features an artwork image by Calder titled " Le Profil Qui Disparait " ( The Profile that Disappears ), from an Aubusson carpet designed by Calder.

Alexander Calder ( 1898 - 1976 ) was an American Modernist artist. Although primarily known for both his innovative kinetic mobiles and monumental public sculptures, Calder also created important paintings, prints, theater set designs, jewelry design, tapestries, rugs, and political and commercial commissioned posters. Born into a family of artists, his work first gained attention in the 1920's in Paris, and was soon championed by The Museum of Modern Art New York resulting in his first retrospective exhibition in 1943. His artistic talents were world renowned by the 1960's. Calder is credited with creating some of the most important Modernist artworks of The Twentieth Century.

Jacques Damase ( 1930 - 2014 ) was a French publisher, art historian, and venerable gallery owner. He created his publishing house at the age of 17, making him the youngest publisher in the world of the time. He published the works of Jean Cocteau, Jean Paul Satre, Paul Eluard, and Charlie Chaplin. His own books included studies of the artworks of Braque, Chagall, Picasso, Calder, Max Ernst, Sonia and Robert Delaunay. Damase is one of the few publishers to have had exhibitions of his books in major international libraries and museums including The Centre Pompidou Paris. His famous gallery in Paris exhibited the artworks of Alexander Calder, Le Corbusier, Jean Cocteau, Jim Dine, Hans Arp, and Sonia Delaunay among others.

The rare out of print lithograph print framed Modernist exhibition poster measures 25 3/4" W X 23 1/2" H X 1 3/8" D. It is printed on smooth finish paper stock with vibrant ink colors in a matte finish.

It is custom framed with UV protective plexiglass in a Contemporary Modern recessed detail satin eggshell finish black metal frame molding, with an attached hanging wire on the reverse back side for easy wall installation.

It is in excellent condition. The poster print is in excellent clean vintage condition consistent with age, light signs of handling, and light minor surface wear.
