Wow your clients & guests in your home or office & make a big statement with this great inquisition painting that will suit your interior design theme.
Title “Irish Lord Inquisition of a Poacher”.
An impressive display size with the frame being 96 cm high and 81 cm wide.
Subject portrait full length view of an Irish Lords interior stately home outside Dublin, he is sitting in his study, seated in his favourite comfy armchair, with his books positioned on his round table. He is wearing his red slippers. His left hand is supporting his chin as he thinks about what punishment to hand out to the poacher. About to begin the inquisition of the poacher who is standing in front of him with his straw hat down by his side, he is looking rather sheepish & apologetic with his head paftly lowered looking at the Lord. Standing next to him is the lords gamekeeper who is holding upside down a dead hare and is in deep conversation talking to the Lord, explaining how he caught the poacher. Lower down are the lords dogs a pug dog & Irish Lurcher standing on the green rug. Further over to the right 2 servants are peaking watching so curiosly with great eagerness through the partly opened door. Above a painting can be seen hanging above the door, the rooms curtains are drawn open letting the natural daylight in. You will love the use of shadow darkness in this scene to highlight the central lighter areas , a great Chiaroscuro effect. This artwork has such drama and charm about it which you will adore.
