The wood is hard, heavy and has a reddish color. There is much hand work with facial features, clothing and even the hair on the water buffalo. The water buffalo has realistic glass eyes. Even the underside has been finished showing the hoof marks. I love the thin rope carving that goes from the buffalo’s mouth to the boy.

MEASUREMENTS

10” (25.4 cm) long x 3 ¾” (9.5 cm) wide x 5” (12.7 cm) tall. Weighs 1 lb 5.4 oz (605 g)

CONDITION

There is a crack by the boy’s hand, and there are no other chips, cracks, or breaks. There is old glue underneath; It may have had a base at one time or just had pads to protect furniture that were glued on.

A great piece of antique Chinese carving. It will make a great display piece in the home. See less
