The transfer is colored in different hues of rich dark blue and the platter is iconic in the most recognizable pattern of transfer ware ever made.
I believe this blue Willow Staffordshire platter dates from 1831 to early 1900.
This platter is from the Staffordshire region of England, where most of the famous potteries were located in the 19th century. The back has a bay leaf marking identifying the maker. Inside it there is a capital A on the sides of it EST - 1831 and on the bottom of it ALLERTONES. L td England Willow Made in England.
This fine example of early blue willow will make for a wonderful statement piece. It is great as a serving platter or stunning hanging on the wall or nestled on a shelf, either alone, or partnered with companion transferware pieces. If you love collected pieces with character and patina, this transferware platter is meant for you.
It is in fantastic excellent carefully used antique condition, so rare to find. There are a few flecks of surface wear on the back. Still a fantastic item for display for those who absolutely adore transferware. less
