This 19th Century inkstand is in the Grand … more Antique English Regency Patinated Bronze & Ormolu Gilt Inkwell with Serpent Handles
This 19th Century inkstand is in the Grand Tour Roman Bath shape.
The inkwell has Gilt Bronze floral swags mounts on the front and back and Gilt Bronze Serpent handles on each end.
There are two inkwells, a central compartment for quill nibs and four quill holders on top.
Inkwells and the central compartment have very ornate lids with pineapple finials.
The there is one white ceramic pounce pot (I did not photograph it)
Measures - 9 1/2" L x 3 1/4" W
This style inkwell usually sat on "foliate paw feet" and I am wondering if they were removed from this one. See photo of bottom.
In very good pre-loved condition - does show some slight wear from use.
