Sugar was an extremely important commodity to Colonial Americans and to pioneer families. Most of them could raise just about anything they needed on the farm, but sugar was an item that had to be traded or bartered to acquire. Other sweet things like honey could be substituted, but most preferred granulated cane sugar.
Hinged lid top. Dovetail joints. Wood shows a stunning patina but overall the piece is in excellent structural condition. less
