This Kota reliquary figure was hand crafted in Gabon, Africa in the early 1900s. This item comes from the private collection of an artist in Ohio, who inherited it from a midcentury traveller.
A large (17 inches tall) wood figure hand carved in Africa and decorated with copper wire, copper sheets, and wood burning technique.
The designs of the Kota people have long inspired Western artists including Andy Warhol. less
