RENÉ LALIQUE
A large French art deco wall sconce in opalescent semi-crystal. This model is called "Lausanne". A half-bowl with fruits and leaves motif. The shade is signed R. Lalique France. It was created in 1929 and represented in the 1932 Lalique product catalog, no longer in the 1937 one. The Lausanne bowl was used for pendant lights (number 2479 in the Marcilhac Lalique catalog) and as wall sconce (#2039 in Marcilhac). Lalique made the Lausanne model in opalescent as well as in normal glass. The more expensive opalescent version shows beautiful tones of milky blue or warm amber depending whether light falls on or shines through them.
The sconce is 15 inches (38 cm) wide. It is 7,5"(19 cm) deep and 5,6" (14 cm) high. It is in excellent condition. The sconce is newly wired and holds an American standard socket.
