Description: A French Neoclassical commode, with stone top and brass accents, from the 19th century. This antique chest from France features … more A French Neoclassical commode, with stone top and brass accents, from the 19th century. This antique chest from France features a rectangular-shaped stone top, with softly rounded corners at front, which rests atop a neoclassical case with rounded and fluted side posts (wrapped with brass band accents at top) which flank four full size graduated drawers. Each of the dove-tailed drawers are outlined with brass trim, and fitted with a pair of brass rectangular bail-pulls, and an oval-shaped escutcheon keyhole (Neoclassic style with bow-tied ribbon motif) at their centers. The top drawer has dividers for organization. This commode is presented upon conical legs with bulbous tops terminating into brass peg feet. This piece has a custom wash of color with a wheat, grey, taupe palette, and a charcoal grey accent trim. The black stone has some notable areas of wear (refer to additional images for more detail). This 9th century French Neoclassic commode is a nice-sized piece and will make a lovely addition within your home, offering storage within and a place for desired objects to be prominently displayed atop. less
