Looks like a soft, original finish with minimal marks for age. A very slight bowing of the large plank sides - not sure if it is from age or original. Never noticed it until I held up a ruler to measure. One side has the slightest sign of separation between planks for a few inches, but not readily noticable or a functional problem. Beautiful and functional antique gateleg drop leaf table. (No center leaves.) I believe it is Curly Cherry. Beautiful grain and pattern in the warm mid-dark toned wood.
Probably from the 1820-1840. Looks like hand cut joints underneath.
Folds down to a very compact 45" x 21". With both sides up it expands to 45" x 64"
The style works well with antique furniture as well as a more modern farmhouse aesthetic. Super convenient to be able to set as a side table when not using, and open up one or both sides for dining to seat 6-8 guests.
Note leg clearance if 28" is with leaves up. It is only about 23" at the center skirted area. less
