The landscapes … more Late 19th c., England, a pair of red enameled sheet metal tole table lamps, painted with Orientalist landscapes. The landscapes are encircled by a gold painted border. Each of the two landscapes shows a different scene. One shows a scene of mountains and water with several pagodas visible in the background. The other shows a more Western style scene again with mountains and water but the structures depicted appear to be castle ruins.

Tole lamps are a perennial decorating favourite. Antique versions such as the pair offered here are rarely duplicated and each has their own personalities.
