France, a pair of cast gilt bronze chenets/andirons modeled as a footed urn strung with a draping laurel and topped with a bowl of piled fruit. The larger urn is stationed beside a smaller flaming urn, both on a shaped plinth cast with architectural elements.

Chenets, or andirons, were a staple in well-appointed homes, and were placed in front of a fireplace to protect priceless rugs and flooring from rolling logs. Whether in front of a roaring fire or simply as decorative objects these chinets are visually appealing. In the past we have used chinets as lovely doorstops in a pinch! See less
