This B&H student desk lamp has been in daily use in our family for over 100 years. It has stood on the top of a drop front desk for over 80 years that I am personally aware of, and likely a generation before that. This is where my mother wrote her letters and handled finances. The desk and lamp came to me over 20 years ago. Now, at age 86, I must pass this family heirloom on to the next loving owner.
The brass has not (purposely) been polished for decades, although it was one of my duties as a child. It may have been lacquered at some point with incomplete coverage remaining. I have no way of knowing if the glossy right shade is original, but I do know that the duller finish left side is a replacement. I recall distinctly (again, as a child) when this was broken and replaced.
There are no dents or scratches other than would be expected with normal use. The switch is on the back of the tank. It has the B&H makers mark on the weighted bottom. Total, about 15 lbs. less
