The hollowed out stump probably housed cigars or pipes and the smaller stump, the matches. On the other side there is an area that could be for ashes or as a match striker. The story here... A picture of contentment, a man with his pipe is resting by a stump with his flask of refreshment, his rifle and his dog sleeping by his side. Please note the badger peeking his head out below. Estimated to be 19th century.
