Froelich Furniture Collection Regency Style Vintage solid Mahogany Tea Caddy with 2 compartments and brass hinges hand made in Indonesia circa 1970s. Original label is on underside of caddy. Measurements are 9.5" W x 6.0" H x 5.0" D.
Froelich Furniture Collection history:
Jake Froelich Jr. (1931-2003) was a High Point, NC native who began his career in 1956 when he joined his father’s business, Jake Froelich Veneers. The younger Froelich went on to expand the business into the production of drawer components. He also owned Dixie Chipboard, and was one of the first manufacturers to import hardwood from the Far East.
He was president of The Froelich Co., which includes Froelich Furniture, a manufacturer of 18th century Queen Anne hardwood reproductions.
In 1979, he and business partner Chuck Haywood bought Tomlinson Furniture. Froelich used his knowledge of the Far East to have the company’s case goods manufactured in Indonesia. He and Haywood formed a partnership and in 1981 renovated the Tomlinson plant on High Street, renaming it Market Square and converting it into a large High Point showroom building that could accommodate multiple tenants.
Froelich was a member of the International Hardwood Production Assn. and in 1978 served as president. He was on the board of the Bienenstock Furniture Library, the North Carolina Furniture Export Council and the Furniture Discovery Center, of which he was a founder. less
