Limited edition mixed media by Stanley Grosse. Hand signed by the artist and dated 1977. Paper Size: 35-1/2" x 23", Image Size: 28-1/4" x18", Circa 1977. Condition: Excellent. It was one framed. Very minor yellowing of paper due to age. Certificate of Authenticity is Included. Make an offer!
Artist bio:
Stanley Grosse was born in St. Louis, Missouri in 1930 and began his art education in 1950 at Los Angeles Trade Tech/commercial art division. In 1952 to 1954, Mr. Grosse was stationed at the Army language school, Monterey, California where he was noncom in charge of the Printing Lab and Art Department.
In 1954, Stanley entered the California College of Arts and Crafts and graduated cum laude. In 1956 he began his teaching career on the San Francisco Peninsula. Grosse was awarded three sabbatical leaves, the first on a scholarship, finishing his masters in painting at the Instituto Allende, San Miguel Allende, Mexico in 1964.
A second sabbatical leave took him to Europe using a small town in Spain as a hub. He worked in the studio there, producing two series of works and traveled 14,000 miles through Europe and North Africa. Photographing, drawing and painting.
Stanley’s third sabbatical was spent in England. He produced 35 pieces of work at his London studio and traveled most of England. Mr. Grosse has also traveled to Japan, in the 80’s, where he drew great inspiration. After that Asian Experience, Grosse’s art has continually reflected historical Japanese culture.
Since beginning his professional career 50 some years ago Stanley Grosse has had both solo and group exhibitions throughout the United States and parts of Europe. His work has adorned the walls of private, public and commercial buildings. You can find his work discussed, in a variety of books and publications.
