Description: Set of twelve Carimate chairs with structure in black lacquered beech wood and woven straw seat, designed by Vico Magistretti … more Set of twelve Carimate chairs with structure in black lacquered beech wood and woven straw seat, designed by Vico Magistretti and produced by Cassina in the 1960s.

The Carimate chair was originally designed for the Carimate Club House in Como in 1959 by Vico Magistretti.
For this seat Magistretti clearly took inspiration from the Scandinavian tradition and and also to the chairs in straw and wood tipical of the Italian culture.
The first Carimate chairs were painted with a briliant red dye usually used for the children toys, which also match with the the columns and windows of the sports complex.
The model is patented (n. 83845 dated 9/5/1961) and initially handcrafted by Fratelli Mario and Luigi Comi of Meda.
In 1963 Cassina started to develop the Carimate model (code 892 in Cassina catalogue) with the 115 version, without armrests, and the 120 version, stool, and in 1964 the 930 version, armchair. I have official proof of authenticity such as vintage catalogs,
