The entire table is constructed with Southern walnut lumber with a selection of American Southern hardwood used to form the drawer box. We have provided a photo of the underside of the drawer, which has experienced significant oxidation, to expressly boast the considerable age of this table as well as the exceptional figured grain which the drawer panel exhibits. Furniture constructed in the American countryside is more likely to have secondary panels of unusually high quality since old growth lumber was widely available for a time. Special care was given in the examination process to ensure the drawer panel is original to the overall table. The presence of 19th century hand forged nails with blackened oxidation marks seeped into the wood around it is a clear indication of age and originality.
