Found in Spain while on a European buying trip. Fajalauza pottery is highly sought after and collectible. Designs with birds, flowers and pomegranates are more traditional. Geometric and intricate designs are not as common. This piece has a pomegranate motif and has the classic blue and white glazed designs that Fajalauza pottery is known for.
The bowls look beautiful wall mounted in collections and included is an installation sample. Each bowl is wired with a custom heavy duty harness for wall installation.
Granadine traditional pottery is well known as Fajalauza ceramics. The potters settled in the city gradually from the late sixteenth century until the present day, in the North of Albaicin area next to the Fajalauza Gate. The style of pottery takes its name from Morales, the largest factory in Granada. In time, all pottery production in Granada came to be known as Fajalauza pottery. The decoration used on Granadine pottery comes from the workshops and Moorish traditions. - Sourced from ladrondeagua blog less
