First known for his jewelry designs, Hervé Van der Straeten is now best known for his bold furniture and lighting, which blends various materials, including hand-wrought bronze, applied lacquer, and polished wood. Drawing from inspirations including origami and tree branches, Van der Straeten’s designs often feature voluminous forms or lattice-like constructions, characterized by a sense of movement and playfulness. Van der Straeten designed jewelry for runway shows by Christian Lacroix and Yves Saint Laurent, as well as the iconic bottle for Dior’s “J’Adore” fragrance.
