Hand-knotted in a special blend of Ghazni wool, this 6x7 rug from the custom-classics Burano Collection by Rug & Kilim is inspired by antique Caucasian Kazak rugs of the late 19th century.
On the Design:
Admirers of the craft may note the influence of Bordjalou (or Borchaly) rugs from tribal weavers in regions of modern-day Armenia and Georgia. The rug’s geometric patterns—including large-size rectangles, chevrons, ram’s horns and other nomadic motifs—play a look of all over and medallion style together, with bright and vibrant primary colors and sharply woven latch hooks (also inspired by the works of the aforementioned provenance). Keen eyes for the tactile will further admire an especially soft, comfortable texture and beauty inherent to the Ghazni wool that underscores this piece. It’s an intentional contribution to a classic for a more contemporary level of comfort, and one of the many beauties that makes this collection a sophisticated, smart new language in design. less
