The strap is meant to be hung around the neck, with the shelf hung in front of you. It's possible the strap was added later on to alter the use. The combination is interesting, from a decor perspective, though you can choose to remove the strap if you like. We think in either use it'll be a unique fun shelf to display plants or art object on it. The stenciled leather does bring a western cowboy element to it.

Condition: Good and consistent with age.
