Original antique photogravure etched by P. Teyssonnieres after a painting by Leonardo da Vinci. Publisher: Gebbie & Co., Philadelphia. This was taken from the antique portfolio of art "The Masterpieces of Italian Art", published in 1886. We've affixed the page that describes the art to the back of the frame. Frame Size: 23" x 18-3/4" x 2" deep. Image Size: 11-1/2" x 8". Condition: Excellent. New custom frame made with archival materials. Make an offer!
Technique: Photogravure is an intaglio printmaking or photo-mechanical process whereby a copper plate is coated with a light-sensitive gelatin tissue which had been exposed to a film positive, and then etched, resulting in a high quality intaglio print that can reproduce the detail and continuous tones of a photograph.
