Wooden magazine rack called canterbury sold by Elliston and Cavell retail department store in Oxford, England. Label is inside the drawer. Elliston and Cavell opened their store first in the 1830s.
These canterburies were very popular in the Victorian era England. According to wikipedia a canterbury "considered a status symbol within wealthier American homes."
It is perfect to display magazines, or as originally was intended, sheet music, records, dinner plates, albums.
