Chairs of this design and from this era tend to be delicate and fragile. However, these dining chairs are remarkably sturdy and strong, thanks to thoughtful design details such as the extra back support below the caned panel, and the staggered box stretcher supporting the legs. The caning is tight and intact with no holes. A few strands of torn cane are visible on the back of one chair. The newer upholstery is very clean and quite stylish in neutral tones. There are older repairs and other signs of the chairs' antique provenance. A couple back legs have repaired cracks. One chair seat shows some wood loss. Another chair has the seat moulding almost fully replaced and painted to blend in. All of the repairs are strong and well done. Please see photos for more details. less
