2 New photos posted ! Helloooo.
We will likely “pull this Listing” very soon … as it’s underpriced.
We just now posted photo sequenced #2 … to give you a “Before & After” … restoration perspective. Please also see the last photo in the array as explained below, regarding a metal nameplate.
If we could, we’d mark the price back up; but, Chairish understandably hesitates to allow Sellers to easily do that… This piece is worth 500+ bucks….
This Vintage Humidor was professionally … completely refinished to the bare wood and then partially, strategically, repainted.
Beautiful natural exposed warm old growth wood.
The legs and cabinet’s box are believed to be rare butternut. It radiates, regardless of the wood species.
The top, was stripped too, and it is constructed of 3 separate boards that are tightly tongue and grooved. They appear to be mahogany.
However, the stripped top pieces were a much darker wood species and appeared to be slightly in different widths … not symmetrical rectangles … so we elected to have it professionally spray lacquered, for a cleaner look; and had the outside door and drawer front done similarly … for some more accent.
The hardware is impressive. The petite flowered drawer pull is heavy. The door’s hardware hinges and latch mimic vintage icebox nickel hardware.
The inside humidor cubby is lined with heavy metal … as is the door … and it has a nice copper faux finish; done well.
A maker’s metal framed nameplate for their initials … adorns the underside of the cabinet as seen … but it is faded. We just added that nameplate photo on 3.24.25. It probably is that of the worker constructing it or maybe inspecting it … rather than the “business” making these pieces.
It is well made and the wood tightly joined.
Note: The humidor cubby is far from airtight; although it could easily be made more so as a functional humidor, by adhering some rubber seal stripping to the inside of the door’s perimeter…and on the door’s opening perimeter edge.
The drawer front is well designed and dovetailed.
It’s a unique, distinctive piece. But, don’t sellers so they all are….
It could also easily be transformed into a more versatile piece by adding to its top a pricey thick half-inch piece of glass (or more affordable thick plexi-glass top) … for your favorite cold drink’s condensation.
More TMI - after just now posting photo number two above …that regards the condition of the humidor soon after we bought it and before we started working on it … I really like the one solid color look, too.
I may be repeating myself, but it originally had a very thick mahogany full body finish on the entire piece, tantamount to a dark brown paint. But, it was so scratched and deeply so, that we felt we had to strip it …to see what we had.
If I had to do it over or if I was in the new prospective purchaser’s shoes … I’d be tempted to pop the hardware off and paint it … all over … quickly and easily … with a can of spray paint … whatever color suits you.
It would look great in any solid color … from white to black to deep wine to green-black to bright orange … to teal.
But, we just couldn’t bring ourselves to cover up that beautiful exposed wood grain
(Weight - a solid 13 lbs.)

Spring in door latch could be “re-loaded” … if a tighter closure is desired. One side of the drawer front dovetail side had a small crack fissure that was glued tight. less
