This kind of opulent were already rare during the times they were made as they were meant for upper class, wealthy households. Now these are almost impossible to find.
The vintage serving system is warmed au bain Marie: the bottom part of the tray is filled up with hot water, the serving dishes are placed in the corresponding openings so the food will stay hot. After use the tray can be emptied by opening the drain on the bottom.
The 3 oval serving dishes that are placed in the openings come with matching lids which can be used as servers as well. They have removable handles so they can be placed upside down and will be easy to clean.
Two smalles sauce pots and a salt shaker are also placed on the tray. There is a place for a center piece if desired.
How impressive and festive this will look as centerpiece on a holiday table setting. Polished and shiny it will be breathtaking. less
